About Alex Feeney
I’m Alex Feeney, a trauma-informed coach and mentor in Australia, working on the Sunshine Coast. The practice you’re reading about was built from five lives running side by side. I’ve been a surrogate, a senior policy writer, a prison educator and specialist in offender employment, a D&I leader, and a dyslexic professional navigating systems that weren’t designed for me. None of those chapters fully explain the others, and that’s the point. Heart and system, combined. What follows is the short version, enough to know whether my way of working might fit yours. The longer story is what we’d talk through if you booked a call.
How I work
Lived experience across surrogacy, grief and identity transitions
Background in government policy, D&I leadership and program design
Trauma-informed practice combined with practical emotional intelligence

Any questions?
Where are you based?
Bokarina, on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Most of my one-to-one work runs online so location rarely matters for clients. In-person sessions are available locally, and I occasionally travel for workshops or organisational consulting. Postcode 4575 if you're wondering whether we'd be neighbours.
What does trauma-informed mean in practice?
It means I don't push, surprise or extract. You stay in control of pace, depth and disclosure. I notice what's happening in the body and the conversation, not just the words. And I don't treat your story as raw material — it's yours, and it stays yours, even after we've worked with it together.
What does heart and system combined mean?
Heart is the human bit — listening, attunement, sitting with grief without flinching. System is the structural bit — knowing how policy, organisations and family dynamics actually work. Most practitioners lean one way. I work both at once, which is why the conversations tend to go somewhere practical rather than circling.
Who tends to work well with you?
People in the middle of a transition who want honesty more than reassurance. Surrogates and intended parents. Empty-nesters. Mid-career professionals reassessing. Leaders carrying more than their team sees. The thread is readiness — you don't need to be sorted, but you do need to want to move, even if slowly.
What if my situation isn't on your audience list?
The website lists what I see most often, not the limit. Plenty of clients arrive with situations that don't tidy onto a page. Book a discovery call and describe yours plainly. If I'm not the right fit, I'll say so and usually point you toward someone who is. No script, no upsell.
